The history of BODUM
Founded by Peter Bodum in Copenhagen in 1944, BODUM was and remains a family-run business. When peter discovered vacuum coffee makers, he loved the taste of the coffee they produced but felt that their design and functionality could be improved. He set about creating stylish and efficient yet affordable coffee makers. He certainly succeeded and the first examples were launched in the 1950s. Those coffee makers were highly acclaimed and truly put BODUM on the map.
In 1974, Jørgen Bodum took over the business. His impact was immediate thanks to the instant success of BODUM’s first French press, the BISTRO, which garnered many awards. Jørgen Bodum later moved BODUM’s headquarters to Switzerland and established an in-house design unit. The team of designers, engineers and architects has been responsible for all product designs since the unit opened is doors, always remaining true to the brand’s tradition for delivering impressive functionality and premium quality.
What about BODUM today?
The team at BODUM have transformed both coffee making and tea making over the years.
