What is a shaker?

A shaker is an accessory used to sprinkle cocoa powder over hot drinks such as hot chocolates and cappuccinos, or to sprinkle cocoa powder over bakery treats. Cocoa shakers (chocolate powder shakers) are typically cylindrical containers boasting fine mesh lids that enable the powder to be shaken through. Some feature small holes on their tops for more controlled distribution of the powder.
